Private dictation and meeting notes for Mac
Hold a key, speak, and your words appear in any app. In a call, Spark writes down who said what and sums it up. Everything is transcribed on your Mac, so your voice is never sent anywhere.
Apple silicon Mac, macOS 15.6 or later. Available now for teams through Enterprise. Pro for individuals is coming soon. Already invited? Download for Mac.
Meeting companion
Start a meeting in Spark and take your call as usual. Spark listens to your microphone and the call's audio, and writes down the conversation as it happens. When the call ends, you get a transcript of who said what, and a summary.
Export to Markdown or plain text, or copy it straight into your notes.
Privacy
Most dictation and meeting tools upload your voice to a server to transcribe it. Spark has no server to send it to. Dictate client contracts or patient notes, record a board meeting or next quarter's planning call. It all stays on your Mac.
None of them carry your voice or your words.
How it works
Spark lives in the menu bar. No window to switch to, nothing to set up per app.
Hold
The fn key by default, or any key or combination you choose. It doesn't type anything.
Speak
A small bubble shows a live preview of your words. It never takes focus from your app.
Release
The text appears at your cursor, in the app you were using.
Email, chat, documents, tickets, CRM fields, code editors. If you can type there, you can dictate there.
Your previous clipboard is restored, and clipboard managers don't record Spark's inserts.
In password fields and Secure Keyboard Entry, Spark doesn't listen, and tells you why.
Tap the key by accident and say nothing, and nothing is inserted.
Models and languages
Spark runs NVIDIA's Parakeet models locally on Core ML. Pick one in the app; it downloads once.
25 European languages, detected automatically as you speak.
English only, with the highest accuracy for English.
English. Words are typed while you speak, with automatic punctuation.
Write to a client in French, then to a colleague in German, without changing a setting.

FAQ
No. Speech recognition, speaker labels and meeting summaries all run on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded: dictation audio isn't even stored, and meeting recordings, transcripts and summaries are kept only on your Mac.
Spark goes online only to download models, check your subscription, and check for updates. None of these include audio or transcripts. See the full list.
Yes. Once a model is downloaded, dictation needs no connection. Your access is held in a signed pass on your Mac that stays valid offline until your subscription runs out, plus a 7-day grace period, and renews whenever you're online. Flights and long trips don't interrupt anything.
No. Spark records your microphone and the sound of the call on your Mac, so it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or any other call app, and nobody sees an extra participant. Many places require you to tell people when you record a conversation, so let them know you're taking notes.
Any Mac app with a text field: Mail, Slack, Teams, documents, tickets, CRM fields, code editors. No plugins or per-app setup. The one exception is password fields and other secure input, where Spark deliberately doesn't listen.
The default model, Parakeet v3, covers 25 European languages and detects which one you're speaking. Meetings use it too, and the summary is written in the language of the meeting. Parakeet v2 and Parakeet Realtime are English only.
The microphone, and Accessibility to insert text into the app you're using and to detect your shortcut in other apps. The microphone is used only while you hold the shortcut, or during a meeting you start.
For meetings, Spark also asks to record system audio, to hear the call. Calendar access is optional: it fills in the meeting's title and who was invited.
Spark is available now for organizations. Contact us and we'll put together Enterprise pricing for your team.
Spark Pro for individuals is coming soon.
A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later), macOS 15.6 (Sequoia) or later, and any microphone. A dictation model takes about 1 GB of disk space; meeting notes need 3 to 4.5 GB more for speaker detection and the summary model.
Tell us about your team. Once you're invited: download Spark, allow the microphone and Accessibility, pick your shortcut, and speak.
